Wintec’s energy tenants power Southern California

Wintec’s tenants have successfully developed over $1.7 billion in energy infrastructure, which facilitates the delivery and storage of more than 1,300 megawatts (MW) of energy

Learn more about Wintec’s energy tenants and projects

  • The Sentinel Energy Center is home to an 800MW natural gas-fueled peaker plant with black-start capabilities, delivering fast and flexible power across Southern California during peak demand, balancing fluctuations from wind and solar power

  • NextEra owns and operates both the San Gorgonio Wind Plant - delivering 15MW of renewable energy - and the Desert Peak Storage Facility. Desert Peak is one of the world’s largest lithium-ion battery facilities, delivering 400MW of continuous renewable energy even wind or solar are unable to produce or meet demand

  • Avangrid’s Mountain View III and Dillon Wind projects include over 75 wind turbines producing a cumulative 77-MW of renewable energy

  • Greenbacker Renewable Energy Company owns and operates both wind, and solar assets on Wintec land producing a cumulative 14MW

Sentinel Energy Center

The Sentinel Energy Center hosts an 800MW natural gas peaker plant with black start capabilities delivering fast, flexible power across Southern California during peak demand

800MW

production capacity

The Sentinel Energy Center, developed by Competitive Power Ventures and operated by Diamond Generating Corporation, is an 800MW natural gas peaker plant powered by eight GE LMS100 aeroderivative gas turbines. Sentinel provides flexible, on-demand capacity to support California’s renewable energy grid, balancing fluctuations from wind and solar power

NextEra

NextEra - the United States’ largest wind and solar operator - operates both the San Gorgonio Wind Plant (50MW) and the Desert Peak Battery Storage facility (400MW/1600MWh).

The NextEra Desert Peak Battery Storage facility is a 400MW/1600MWh lithium-ion battery facility that stores surplus wind and solar energy for dispatch during peak demand. It plays a critical role in California’s ability to continuosly deliver energy from renewable sources

NextEra owns and operates the San Gorgonio Wind Plant (i.e., WPP1993) which produces 50MW of renewable energy using 33 GE 1.5SLE Turbines

Avangrid

Avangrid operates both the Mountain View III and Dillon Wind projects with a combined 75 wind turbines producing a cumulative 77-MW of renewable energy

The Avangrid Mountain View III facility is a 22.44MW wind farm with 34 turbines

Avangrid’s Dillon Wind project is a 45MW wind farm with 45 turbines

Greenbacker

Greenbacker Renewable Energy company owns and oparates both wind and solar assets on Wintec land producing a cumulative 14MW

Greenbacker operates two separate photovoltaioc systems with a toal production capacity of 7.7MW

Greenbacker operates the Wagner Wind Farm with two Vestas V90 wind turbines generating 6MW
